There was a brand of candy that I used to purchase from ice cream
trucks in Florida when I was a little boy (back in the early 80s). I
can't remember what it was called.

It was this semi-hard pink/translucent oval candy (small pieces a
little less than 1 inch big) and was delicious! It became sort of
chewy once you started biting it.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? If you know what this candy
is called I will happily pay $50 for the answer.

I am almost positive you are talking about a hard candy that I also
love and find occasionally. They are somewhat watermellon-flavored
with a chewy center. There also used to be some, when I was much
younger and which are now harder to find, that were more of a
raspberry flavor with a chewy center. If either of these sound
right...(the watermellon-type were the more translucent pink of the
two), I will try to find the name of the company that makes them. Let
me know if I am on the right track, okay?

possible watermelony flavor I suppose. That was the thing...was kinda
hard to figure out what the flavor really was.

nope...none of those, although I do have an affinity to razzles (which
turn into gum when you chew them!).

Were they strawberry candies? If they're the ones I'm thinking of you
can find them here:

"Could you be remembering Willy Wonka's Punkys?"

I'm almost positive, no (not sure what those are), but I do think the
candy started with a P.

thank you

I believe the wrapper was a glossy white wrapper (possibly with red
lettering or pink lettering).

I am not sure of the candy to which you refer, however I do know of a
store that continues to sell all the old candies of our youth. They
also claim on their website: "If there happens to be something that
you are looking for that amazingly we do not carry as part of our
regular inventory, we can source it for you..."

I was addicted to sugar fountains as a child, and occasionally visit
one of their franchise stores in Toronto, Ontario. I would safely say
that if these folks can't find the candy you are looking for, no one
can.
