the photo in search was taken during period approx april 25-28, near
the area of town of gartow. i was asked to lead my squad to m.p.
stageing compound on river to escort pw,s to a railroad siding approx
10-12km to rear. i was overwhelmed to see thousands. we 7 took charge
of approx 2-3thousand. since i had rank gun corporal, i lead the way.
it was not a highway i have seen those pics. it was a 2 lane road. i
was about 6' tall then ,thin ,with a long raincoat that reached to top
of my combat boots. i had an o.d. towel wrapped around my neck. my
helmet had bazooka goggles attached. carried a carbine, and wore
webbed belt with ammo pack and canteen. might have had a short beard.
there might be a photo of group on break as german major asked for a
rest for the prisoners. he would be sitting next to me, not too close.
as we sat i had already seen traffic coming up to river as
replacements and news people in jeeps. first i was aware of their
cheering and flashes taking pictures. there must be pics around. i am
77 kids have heard this story i do not tell war stories the 84th was
the stopper in the ardennes. now my grandkids are asking where is a
picture

The 84th Division is currently a training support unit supporting a
six-state area, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan,
Indiana, and Ohio.

I'd suggest giving a call to either them or their historical archives.
