Delete the 'XupiterStartup' entry and also HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xupiter and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\{A27CFCAE-9351-4D74-BFFC-21EB19693D8C} to clean up if you wish. Greetings gkiii, Sounds like this thing just doesn't want to let go of your system. I found a helpful resource that supposively explains in detail how to rid yourself of this parasite program: http://and.doxdesk.com/parasite/Xupiter.html In addition to the registry keys and startup entries involved, it looks like a couple of DLL files also need to be unregistered which is probably the step that you are missing. Without this step, Windows may be re-initializing the parasite with each reboot when it loads these DLL's into memory. I found a couple of other resources that said the newest versions of both Spybot and Ad-Aware could remove this parasite program from your PC. I'm not sure which version of Ad-Aware you tried, but it might not have been the most up to date. If the above instructions don't work, I would recommend trying Spybot first, then the most recent Ad-Aware second. You will find links below to the newest version of each. SpyBot Search and Destroy v1.1 http://security.kolla.de/index.php?lang=en&page=download Lavasoft's Ad-Aware v5.83 http://www.lavasoft.de/downloads.html I hope this helps to rid you of this problem program. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance on this particular problem. Thanks! Sincerely, PWizard |

Good day to you. I had the exact same problem, with the Xupiter toolbar. If you cannot remove the toolbar with ad removing programs, (I could not), then you might want to try the uninstall program XUPITER.COM provides to get rid of the banner. http://www.xupiter.com/help.html One of the questions and answers listed is: "How do I uninstall one of your software products? Visit the following link and run the uninstaller program here uninstall here" And of course, the link to download the uninstaller program is: http://www.xupiter.com/uninstall.exe This method DID work 100% for me. Goodluck and let me know how it's turns out. |
