Hello obie-ga,
Since most of my answer to you is negative, I am placing it as a
comment rather than as a paid answer

No other newspaper website has an archive going back to your period of
interest.
The main repository for newspapers in the UK is the The British
Library Newspaper Library, Colindale Avenue, London, NW9 5HE. General
Enquiries: Tel: +44 (0)20 7412 7353 ,

The electronic resources available at Colindale include abstracts and
indexes to newspapers and journals, but these do not cover tabloids.
Full-text resources go no earlier than 1990, with the exception of the
Economist Magazine which is available from 1987. The Library does
have some chronological subject guides, which include: Database
listing over 18,000 cartoons published in British newspapers,
1912-1990 (cartoons would reflect the main stories being carried in
the newspapers) Unfortunately, this and other probably less relevant
electronic resources are only available to physical visitors to the
Reading Room.
An online newspaper archive available on the Web is still in a pilot
stage with no content relevant to your query.
The Library does attempt to collect all newspapers published in the
UK, but again the collection is only available to visitors.
The Newspaper Library welcomes orders for reproductions of pages of
any newspapers and periodicals in our collections, subject where
appropriate to the relevant copyright restrictions. In accepting
orders, we must always choose the copying process best suited to the
well-being of each item. The long-term preservation of the material in
our care has to be our first priority.
All photocopies produced by the Newspaper Library are of complete
pages only and are the same page size as the original.
The size of the page and the unwieldy bulk of broadsheet (A2)
newspapers does not allow reproduction by direct rapid copy methods,
therefore the preparation of a photocopy from a broadsheet newspaper
undergoes two stages:
The page concerned is microfilmed;
A paper copy is then produced from the microfilm.
To produce copies from tabloid (A3) and A4 size volumes, the Newspaper
Library uses 'book-friendly' photocopiers, which allow safe copying
from bound volumes.
Orders may be placed at the Enquiry Desk in the main Reading Room,
where further information and current price lists are available.
Orders may be placed by post if full publication details can be
provided. For photocopies, the normal service takes around one working
week from the time of our accepting your order. Express copy services
are available for the media and other users needing copies more
quickly than is provided by the standard service.
Where an item is still in copyright, only a single copy of one page
or one article for the purposes of research or private study may be
made from one issue of a newspaper or periodical. If the copies are
required for purposes other than for private research or study, or
more than a single copy of one page or article from an issue is
wanted, then the written permission of the copyright holder is
required before the Library is able to produce the copies. |
