Hi mbw20,

Since you have indicated that this is the information you needed, I am
reposting it as an answer.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics classified Certified Nurse Assistants
(CNAs) with orderlies and attendants. The mean wage for this class of
employees in Alabama in 2000 was $7.68 an hour and the median wage was
$7.62 an hour. This translates to a mean annual salary of $15,980 in
2000.

These statistics are available on the BLS website:
Alabama 2000 Occupational & Employment Statistics
http://www.bls.gov/oes/2000/oes_al.htm

You can scroll down to or search for group 31-1012: Nursing Aides...

The particular page for this group is at
http://www.bls.gov/oes/2000/oes311012.htm

The best place to look for occupational statistics, including wages,
is the Bureau of Labor Statistics, then search their site for the type
of employee you wish and the state. Wage statistics are found under
the Occupational Employment Statistics section of the website.

helpful:

Dear mbw620,

The Bureau of Labor Statistics groups CNAs with orderlies and
attendants for the purposes of statistics generation (see:
http://www.bls.gov/ncs/ocs/ocsm/comK447.htm). So I'm having trouble
just finding wages for CNA's on their own. However, the below link
reports that nursing aids, orderlies, and attendants had a median
income of $7.22/hour in 1999.

In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the hourly
wage for Nursing Assistants, Orderlies, and Attendants (same group as
before) was $7.62 (median) or $7.68 (mean) in 2000. The mean yearly
salary was $15,980 for this group.

Here is the table where I found those statistics:

You can scroll down to or search for group 31-1012: Nursing Aides...
