Is there anything you can remember about the story. Any little detail
will help. And was her real name Tally or is that a nickname for maybe
Talia or something like that? You would be surprised at how small a
detail will help find this book.

There is a novel called "Weather Eye" - well known on Summer Reading
lists, with a main character called Telly.  Could this be what you are
thinking of?

The only thing I can think of that is well know is Up Close and
Personal which was co-written by Joan Didion and Dunne. The problem is
it isn't novel but a screenplay.

There are any number of books with a heroine named "Tally"; everything
from a series of mysteries featuring Tally McGinnis to, The Chandler's
Daughter, to a fairly recent Grisham novel called A Painted House.

If you could give me a bit more detail about the story I could
probably find it for you but at the moment the possibilities are near
endless
