This is a follow up to question ID 45760 "Why doesn't google index
images on www.musicpictures.com?"

I followed the excellent advise given to the above question and
cleaned up my html but still google has not indexed by images (27,000
of them)

Google IS indexing the relavent pages but they are only appearing in
the Google WEB search not the Google IMAGE search.

The main page in question is a dynamic one
www.musipictures.com/pictures_no_frames.cfm which is reached by
www.musipictures.com/artists_no_frames.cfm with various url
parameters.

e.g. if you do a WEB search on google for "jack jones"
"pictures_no_frames" you get pages from www.musicpictures.com but if
you do an IMAGE search for jack jones or a specific image file name
e.g. DR1004_Jack_JONES_P.jpg, nothing is returned.

What am i doing wrong? Is google checking copyright attributes (in the
IPTC comments) of files or anything like that??

Any help much appreciated.

Hi Simon,

Though I'm happy to see that you've returned to ask another question,
I wish it had been under different circumstances! As the Researcher
who answered your original query, it pained me to see that you're
still having trouble.

The first thing I did was have a look at your page. It looks
terrific, and there don't seem to be any blocks for the Googlebot to
trip over now. Searching Google for ["musicpictures"] shows you as
the very first result, and you have 22 pages that link to you and 13
that mention you. Your file names are all descriptive, too. So far,
so good!

So why aren't your images showing up in an image only search?

The answer to your query is a simple, if disappointing, one:

"An image I know is online wasn't found when I did my search. Why?

You can search more than 390 million images on the Web with Google's
Image Search. However, there are many more images on the Internet that
Google has not yet added to its index. Google is working to crawl more
images to increase the quality and quantity of images returned when
you search, so it's likely we will add the image you're looking for in
the near future."

Image Search Help
://www.google.com/help/faq_images.html#why

Of the billions of images out on the 'Net, only 390 million are
indexed for the Google Image search at the moment. It takes a bit of
time to find them all - Image Search is still just a baby, having only
launched last year with a mere 150 million images:

A Quick Way to Search for Images on the Web
http://www.nytimes.com/2001/07/12/technology/circuits/12GEE5.html

The image index is growing. Just be patient with it, the Googlebot
will get there!

I'm sorry I couldn't come up with anything to help speed up the
process. It seems the only solution available at the moment is
patience. In the meantime, keep up the great work! I'm a music fan,
so I've bookmarked your site for future reference. If another Google
Answers customer comes along, searching for a good picture of BB King,
I'll know right where to send him!

Good luck!

Missey, Thanks for your answer. Your privious advice was realy useful
and this gives me some peace of mind. At least now google is indexing
the pages in question if not the images just yet. Thanks again. Simon.
