You'll find a small archive of free stock photography at photo.net. In addition, if a photo you like is not marked as free for reproduction, you might be able to contact the photographer and arrange to use it for a small fee. My own photos there are freely usable, but they're not very good. http://www.photo.net/photodb/user?user_id=479828 Enjoy! |

Bar none, the best place to find stock photography is at Getty1.com. They offer a great search tool, a wide array of photographers and competitive pricing. Here is the link: http://www.getty1.com. I know you will enjoy this site. All the best. |

There is also the Corbis collection at http:\\www.corbis.com -- they have 3 million images online and searchable there as well and are considered to be one of the premiere digital archives in the world. When you say inexpensive, you need to be clearer. When you purchase a photo form any stock photo agency, you are really not buying the photo -- you are buying a liscense to use the photo for some particular application. Some photos have a fixed price and a broad liscense, while others have to be negotiated. In very rare case, you have people actually purchase all the right to a particular photo. If this ever happens the $$$$ are huge. As an example, you can go to Corbis and get a huge range of 640x480 images for $3 to $6. However these are only for "Personal Use", which is a very strict kind of use. You can learn more about this by taking a look at the Corbis home page. You will see the two main types of liscensing that goes on and there is very good and easy to read info on what it means. |
