Some blends of Linux can't use WINS, there only a few that can. I don't think SuSE has it as an option. |

OK, is there some sort of RPM you need to install to make it work? |

Any linux box that has Samba 2.05 or higher installed should be able to use WINS. From the Samba-HOWTO: <quote> To configure Samba to use a WINS server the following parameters are needed in the /etc/smb.conf file: # Do not act as a WINS server wins support = No # nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is the IP address of your WINS server wins server = nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn </quote> Most linux distributions come with Samba, SuSE included. If it's not installed on your system, the rpm can be found at: ftp://mirror.mcs.anl.gov/pub/suse/i386/8.1/suse/i586/samba-client-2.2.5-102.i586.rpm Cheers, SX |
