I am the Quartermaster of the VETERAN CORPS OF ARTILLERY, New York State's oldest and largest historic military command, which was established in 1790 by veterans of the Revolutionary War. However, our uniforms and all accessories are patterned after the US Army uniform as worn during the War of 1812. I am seeking the names of civilian organizations that: >are duly constituted as American War of 1812 reenactment groups, and >are the vendors of American uniforms, uniform accessories and arms used by such War of 1812 reenactors. |

Hi arniea~ An excellent site on War of 1812 reenactments is www.warof1812.ca . Here you'll find a list of events, histories, and reenactment groups. Here are just a handful of the groups listed: * The 7th Regiment ( http://www.cottonbalers.lynchburg.net ) * The 27th Regiment ( http://www.iaw.on.ca/~jsek/us27inf.htm ) * The Upper Mississippi Brigade ( http://members.tripod.com/umbrigade ) Many others are listed at the site. Here's another site that lists War of 1812 reenactment units: http://www.iaw.on.ca/~jsek/1812unit.htm Here is a site that includes costume articles that may prove helpful to you, including accessories; they custom make uniforms (presumably American as well as British): http://www.militaryheritage.com/napbrit.htm This company offers a catalog of 1812 uniforms and clothing: http://www.jarnaginco.com/rev.html This very useful re-enactors site offers a list of "sutlers:" http://www.geocities.com/landofnofarbs/sutlers.htm This lovely site includes some War of 1812 items, too: http://www.gggodwin.com/catalog.htm Keywords Used: "war of 1812" reenactment ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22war+of+1812%22+reenactment&btnG=Google+Search "war of 1812" uniforms reenact* ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22war+of+1812%22+uniforms+reenact* Hope this helps! kriswrite |

Your response was indeed most informative. It has given me numerous contacts of individuals within units whom we can contact regarding whom they have used to manufacture their uniforms and accessories. |
