Do you normally use Outlook Express to get email from an America Online account?

Double-check your POP3 and SMTP mail settings in Outlook Express.

Go to the "Tools" menu, then "Accounts..." and on the "Mail" tab, you
should see one or more email accounts that Outlook Express is
configured to check. You should be able to examine the Properties
(there's a button) for each account. You'll want to verify that the
username and password is correct, and that the POP3 and SMTP servers
are correct (you may need to contact your internet provider for
assistance in verifying that these settings are correct.)

Is that all you needed, or am I missing something?

Hi scooper38-ga,

Generally it is not possible to access AOL mail via Outlook Express.
According to the Microsoft Support Center, because AOL mail servers
are not compatible with Outlook Express -

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q171163& and

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q181429.

However, upon doing a Google search using the terms 'AOL' and 'Outlook
Express', I returned the following results:

Most significant amongst these were the following sources:

http://www.overcomeemailoverload.com/aol/aolWithMS.html- where I
discovered that there is software available to overcome this problem
and

http://www.enetbot.com/man_3_3_2.htm.

The software to overcome the problem can be downloaded from the
enetbot.com site. The site also includes detailed information on how
to configure Outlook Express with the software in order to allow
access to AOL mail. Although configuration initially appears to be
quite complicated, the site gives detailed step-by-step instructions
including screenshots, which walk you through the configuration
process.

However, should this configuration process prove too daunting, there
are other free email clients available for download which allow access
to AOL mail without much ado, for example Eudora, which can be
downloaded from

www.eudora.com.

I hope this information helps. Good luck!

Purplecat.

You cannot use Outlook Express for AOL, you must use their software
for checking the mail.

However you can also check your mail at www.aol.com.
Internet Explorer can be used for AOL internet once you are connected
to the AOL service.

Hope this is a good enough answer for you.
