I'm 22 and live in the Seattle, WA area (more specifically, the East
Side). I play guitar and I'm especially interested in the blues. What
I am looking for is other people to play with on a regular basis, with
similar musical taste and and skill (novice). Additionally, people
close to my age would be nice. I have looked through the classifieds
in a few local papers and online resources, but have not found any
good fits. I am not looking for people who want to start a serious
band, just people to jam with. If you could come up with 5-10 listings
for such people, that would be great. (I don't need you to contact
anyone, as I'm sure that's against policy. If you could just point to
some links where they are listed, that would be enough). Thanks.

Hello, and thanks for the question. I'm a blues guitarist myself
(heroes: Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Peter Green ) so I enjoyed
having a dig around for you.

I've found just the site.
The Sounds of Seattle ezine lists pubs/cafes/restaurants etc that have
"open" jam sessions and performer spots. It currently has 19 venues
listed especially for blues guitarists and open mic/jam sessions

The Sounds of Seattle
http://www.soundsofseattle.com/Resources/openmicjams.asp

                   ..o0o..

Another site lists the jam sessions by day of the week for ease of
reference, and covers a wider geographical area, but doesn't have the
contact details
http://www.bluestodo.com/liveblues/jams.htm

It lists the venues seperately, and gives phone numbers here:
http://www.bluestodo.com/liveblues/venues.htm

And in their classified ads section, you'll find people giving
lessons, looking for Seattle tracks for a local CD, and possibly more
people like yourself
http://www.bluestodo.com/features/classifieds.htm

                   ..o0o..

I'd really recommend going along to one of the venues, even if you sit
in the background at first. The first time can be daunting, but if you
let them know you're a novice, they'll coax you along, and you'll be
amazed how quickly you leave the "novice" tag behind. And there will
be others there doing just the same as you, and just as nervous (Been
there, done that.) :)

And you don't even have to take part at the venue itself. You'll find
as you get to know people that you start meeting for "sessions" out of
the venue.
Trust me, all blues guitarists are good people....you can't play the
blues if you're not. Good luck, and I hope your mojo keeps working. :)

Hope that's what you were looking for, but if you need anything
clarified, just ask.
