artdrectr,
The good news is it appears that Ann Taylor is still seemingly active
in the art community! The bad news is there is scant information to be
found!
From all the dabbling I did online, this is all I could find!
From a site dated 2002: DEGRAZIA GALLERY IN THE SUN. 6300 N. Swan
Road. 299-9191. Continues through April 19: Timescape features the
stained-leaded art glass of Ann Taylor and Southwestern Images
includes the work of Dale and Peg Allen through April 19. Gallery
hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
http://www.tucsonweekly.com/tw/2002-04-11/l-art.html
It appears that your artist has donated $1,000 to the Hockaday Museum,
Flathead Valley of Northwest Montana. (Middle of the page, under
Sustaining Members)
http://www.hockadayartmuseum.org/news_spring2_02.html
and
The Hockaday Museum Home Page:
http://www.hockadayartmuseum.org/
I sent an e-mail to this museum requesting more information on your
artist. If and when I get a response, Ill post it here!
The Green Rim by Ann Taylor
http://www.cgrein.com/abstract.htm
This site listed 4 choices for Taylor, Ann. I believe the Taylor you
are looking for is the first one, born in 1941, in New York. She is
listed as a landscape artist.
http://www.askart.com/results.asp?RecordNo=All&Value1=Taylor&Value2=ann&BEG=1&END=10
The above page led to this smidge of information on this artist:
http://www.askart.com/AllBooks.asp?BEG=1&END=10
Regretfully, this was all I could locate, but I hope it was
informative. If and when I get a response from the Hockaday Museum,
I'll post it to you in an aswer clarification, so you will be sure to
be notified.

First of all, thank you crabcakes for your time searching.
Unfortunately, the items you found do not really answer my question.
I think the name Ann Taylor (read A.T.) must be very common, as you
must realize from your search.
Several of the sites list Ann Taylor, but no mention of her art
1. The first site (http://www.tucsonweekly.com/tw/2002-04-11/l-art.html)
mention stained-leaded art glass, this is not even the medium that
this known artist is recognized by. I would assume this is another
artist named A.T..
2. Hockaday site only mentions a donation by A.T. (perhaps the womens
apparel designer?), no mention of this person's art anywhere on the
site.
3. "The Green Rim" was painted by her more than a decade ago.
4. No recent info in the last site entries.
Again, thanks for your search. But I believe the question still
stands. Is Ann ("Reach of Solitude") Taylor still producing artwork?
Perhaps an email to the http://www.cgrein.com/abstract.htm gallery
would help us.
Best regards,

artdrectr,
Thank you for your answer clarification- shame on me for not writing
immediately to the cgrein.com address. I did write to the Hockaday
Museum however, but as of yet, no response.
You are correct, there were several artists with the name of Ann
Taylor, as well as the clothing manufacturer. I was quite surprised to
find so little, as I searched for about an hour and a half. Seems like
the clothing manufacturer has a Southwest-themed line, as every search
with "Ann Taylor" + southwest turned up the apparrel designer.
As for the stained leaded-glass, it is possibly another artist. I have
however heard of artists changing mediums, so I was hoping it was the
artist you were seeking.
While I await responses from both museums, I will continue to try and
find more information for you.

artdrectr,
I got a speedy response from the executive director of the Hockaday
Museum, Linda Engh-Grady. Here is what she said:
-----------
"If the Ann Taylor that you speak of is the same Ann Taylor of the
Hockaday Museum, she does paint but I am not aware that she sells her
work. She is the Ann Taylor of the Ann Taylor clothing stores. I may
have one of her paintings for sale in a show later this year. August
15 to be exact. If you would like to be included on the mailing list
please let me know."
Thanks,
Linda Engh-Grady
Executive Director
I am more confused now, and wrote to her again, asking more
information. Is it possible "your" artist is THE Ann Taylor of the
clothing store? I'll post again! Thank you for your patience.

artdrectr,
I recieved a somewhat terse e-mail from the gallery you suggested I
contact. Apparently their gallery is closed. This information was not
on the page that contained Ms. Taylor's art sample, the page that
Google directed me to when running my search. The "Contact" link also
did not mention the gallery was closed, and accepted e-mail to be
sent.
"As the front page of our web-site states, C. G. Rein Galleries is
closed.
We are currently looking to sell the remaining inventory to an art
dealer.
Therefore, we are not in contact with artists any more. Good luck in
your
search for more information about Ann Taylor."
Sincerely,
Trish Rein Cowle

Will keep you posted with further information.

I was a little intrigued by the Hockaday Museum's comment "She is the
Ann Taylor of the Ann Taylor clothing stores."
So, I went googling on my own for 'Ann Taylor company information'.
If you go to http://investor.anntaylor.com/visitors/faq_ann.cfm?companyid=ANN
You will find this nugget:
"Is there a real Ann Taylor?
Ann Taylor was the name of a best-selling dress at our founders
fathers store. Both the best-selling dress and the name Ann Taylor
were given from a father to his son for good luck."
Oh boy, crabcakes.
Is there an Ann Taylor existing anywhere??
I thank you again for your time. I realize the list price is far too
low, but the original question remains.

I'm on it still. Did I mention I came across Ann Taylor + clothing +
Southwestern art - all on the same site several times? That Ann Taylor
did a southwestern art-themed line of clothing? Could they be the same
woman?
I do more sleuthing.....

artdrectr,
I have two other e-mails out. However, I think itis rather unlikely
that I will get any good leads on Ms. Ann Taylor, artist.
I have searched extensively for any tidbit of information, to no
avail. If I get no positive response from my e-mails within a day, I
will request that the Google editors remove my answer, at no charge to
you.

It looks like it will difficult if not impossible to find recent art
by this once wonderful painter.
If you do happen to come across more info, I would appreciate you
commenting.
In the meantime, no need to remove the answer, your sluething accounts
for a lot.
Enjoy.
