I've searched all over google and yet to find an answer for this....in
IE 6.0, how can I make it so a new window opens up maximized. Right
now, it opens up to about an 1/8th of the screen. When I click links
that open in new windows I want to be able to atleast set the size
window it opens as or just always have it open "maximized". The
solutions I found in google groups do not work.
Thanks!

Hi mlombardi!

I found a solution to that annoyance in a forum somewhere although I
don't remember where, here it is:

This only works on the shortcut you use to open IE, if you use a
different shortcut it won't work untoil you repeat the process with
each one you "might" click to open a new instance of IE. I did this
with my desktop IE icon, and the one I have in QuickLaunch on the task
bar.

RIGHT CLICK on one of the IE shortcuts that annoys you and choose
properties. There is a DOWN ARROW to the right of the RUN text entry
box. Click it and select MAXIMIZED.

If you choose maximized, IE will open maximized for you when you click
THAT shortcut. That's the only way I have found.

Thank you for your work Cynthia but that only works when I click the
short cut icon. Unfortunately, I had that already set. What I was
looking for was when on a web page and click a link that opens a new
window (or right-click and press "Open in New Window") the new window
that opens is the one I would like maximized.

Thanks,

Mike

Okay, I just figured it out from someone on google groups...it works now!

Start IE5, right click any URL and select Open in a New Window.
Go back to the first IE5 window you opened and close it.
Return to the second window and manually drag it to fill the screen.
(Do not use the maximize button)
Close this second window, using the close box.
All IE5 windows should now open maximized

Very cool method mlombardi, I tried it myself. No need to change
properties of shortcuts!

This was informative, however, it wasn't really what I was looking for
- which was probably related to my question/description.

IE New Window Maximizer will do what you want:
http://www.jiisoft.com/iemaximizer/index.htm
It's required to be running at all times to maximize all the windows,
but it does so unobtrusively down in the system tray and takes up
little in the way of resources.

I was reading your question and answers.. Actually This is the
Property of IE to do that. There is no way to open the window maxmized
when you open the link in new window.
