Sallybotz..
As a fan of American literature, your question peaked a curiosity in
me. It made me wonder just what author met your requirements and if I
was familiar with him. As it turns out, I was.
As the author of such works as "The Sound and the Fury" and "Go Down,
Moses", William Faulkner is considered one of America's finest
writers. Born in New Albany, Mississippi in 1897, Faulkner is known
for his descriptive writing about the South.
In 1929, while working as a night watchman at a power plant at the
University of Mississippi, Faulkner wrote 4 words on the top of a
piece of paper: "As I Lay Dying". Six weeks later, he completed the
work that would later become accalaimed as his finest work.
Thank you very much for your question. I throughly enjoyed learning
more about William Faulkner.
If you need any further clarification, please let me know!
