I am looking for a list of the lowest CPC banner advertisers. I am not interested in targeted markets, just a general audience will do. I also would like to avoid advertising scams, if they exsist. From what I have found, I have seen CPC rates from: $0.10 (http://www.websitetraffic-int.com/banneradvertising/cpc.htm) to $0.37 (http://www.standardinternet.com/adrates.html) I can see, it is easy to be ripped off,.. 1.) I could be paying too much... 2.) I could be giving money away for nothing... I want to test the water before investing too much. THANKS! | |

most of the banner companies that have been operating have gone bankrupt recently, so the field is a bit thin. Also, most advertising companies on the internet are horribly unreliable, cheating both webmasters and advertisers. I would recommend finding a few reputable websites with a dedicated following and asking if you can run an ad with them. Click through rates are easily 5x the industry standard for this type of arrangement, and you can easily get people looking at your ad, whereas the standard "banner brokers" typically have website visitors ignoring the banners. Somethingawful.com is a good example of this. they provide for $10 a month a place in their banner rotation. This is very cheap considering the amount of hits the site gets. |

How about Google Adwords? Their rates are surprisingly reasonable. |

I heartily second the comment about AdWords. It's really an unbelievable value -- as low as 5 cents per click for many keywords, and most importantly, they are VERY qualified leads. The only disadvantage is that it can be difficult to obtain large amounts of traffic without substantially raising the price. I can think of some situations where it might not be appropriate, such as branding or certain types of seller's-market advertising, but for many applications, it's a no-brainer. |

You are right, but I have two problems with adwords... 1.) Some key words are very expensive, such as $0.90 a click. (i.e. hosting) 2.) Even if your key words are relevant, unless your conversion is above .5%, you account is disabled. I believe google's adwords program would be more successful if they charged a FLAT fee of $.05 per click, and rotate everyone randomly. Positioning would be determined by conversion alone, so there would be no financial incentive for placement. ------------------- Given the comments, I would like to modify my quesion. Now I am looking for individual website that offer advertising at low rates. |

ok, well here's two websites that i believe are good to advertise on. www.somethingawful.com http://www.somethingawful.com/advertise/ i looked at their rates, and it turns out i was incorrect earlier when i said it was $10 a month. It was actually $30 a month. "I am now offering ads on this site through PayPal. See that 468x60 ad space up there and to the right? You could be looking at your very own horrible eye-scarring ad up there right now. SA serves up over 700,000 pages a day to over 55,000 unique IPs, so your ad would be getting out to a large majority of people who are very, very frightening to me (although not as scary as my family). Our ad program keeps track of your ad's clickthroughs, so you'll know at the end of your campaign how many people clicked them." Obviously, the more people who buy ads, the fewer each ad gets shown, but so far each ad seems to get repeated fairly often from my experience. Another good site you might look into is www.genmay.com. Its a forum that is *heavily* trafficked, and thus they are selling banners for $10 a month to help defray their costs. Right now, there only seems to be a half dozen banners in rotation. At any given time, they tend to have about 200 simultaneous registered users logged in. Since reading forums requires lots of page refreshes, even those who don't like advertising eventually get bored and wonder whats behind that banner ad they've seen load about 20 times. To use forum slang, for $10 a month "I'd hit it". |
