I am having a maddening problem with Mac Outlook 2001. I have too type the full email address of the person I want to send an email too. When I use Outlook Express on my Mac, it learns who I email a lot and then auto-completes the email address if I start typing the first few letters. Is there a setting in Outlook 2001 that will do this? Does it have something to do with how I have my contacts organized? Pls help! ------------------------------------ After some digging, I've found a slight workaround for filling in the email addresses. When you type in a name, first type some characters of the person you want to email, then you press the Apple key + the letter "K". This will auto fill in the email address. Also, you have to make sure that the address book is the personal contacts or whatever book they want to use by default. I'm still looking for an autofill option but I cant seem to find one. |

Outlook 2001 for Mac does not contain any preferences/setting for enabling disabling autocomplete of email addresses. The Entourage(Outlook 2001) Help Page ( http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/faqs.html ) has this to say about Outlook 2001 for Mac(Entourage) : "Entourages Address AutoComplete feature gathers addresses from both the address book and the recently-used list (with a maximum of 200 entries). They are sorted intelligently, organized by the frequency of messaging for each contact, with the most-used contacts showing up on top. There will always be 200. Some will always be considered "useless" by the user. The better organized you are at adding "good" addresses to you address book the more you will enjoy the MRU feature." ------------ A reason for Autocomplete not working may be that you do not have both The First or the Last name entered for a contact. Please see this Google Groups posting for more info : Subject : emails from address book not showing when in message... ( http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&threadm=B93A59D6.DBCD%25mwstevens%40eudoramail.com&rnum=8&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DISO-8859-1%26q%3Dautocomplete%26meta%3Dgroup%253Dmicrosoft.public.mac.office.entourage ) ------------ This Google Groups posting ( http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&threadm=eic1JFGQBHA.1468%40tkmsftngp03&rnum=2&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DISO-8859-1%26q%3Dautocomplete%2Bemail%2Baddress%2Boutlook%2B2001%2Bmac ) describes how to get a list of email addresses using the Command+K method. ----------------------------------- Since Outlook 2001 lifts the addresses from your address book, you should make sure that the address book entry for your contact is complete( atleast a First & last name). Also, in order to make sure that the address book is not corrupted, delete an entry from it and then enter it again. Then check if it shows up in your autocomplete list Hope this helped. If you need any clarifications, just ask. :) |
