Hi superroy-ga,
I can help you with this issue. It seems PCDLIB32.DLL is a PhotoCD
Library file used by Broderbund CreataCard and other programs. I
wouldnt delete this file just to be safe. We can however stop that
message from popping up at the start of your windows bootup.
Please firstly check the startup folder. The problem program might be
located here, if not we should be able to find it by using msconfig
(instructions below). Click on start, programs, startup. Is there
anything regarding CreataCard here? If so, delete it.
Please try the following instructions if you have not found the
reference to CreataCard in the startup of windows:
Close all programs and return to the Windows® desktop.
Click Start and select Run.
Type MSCONFIG in the Open: field.
Click OK. A System Configuration window will open.
Click the startup tab.
If you see anything in reference to Broderbund CreataCard untick it
and click OK and reboot. It might tell you where the file is located,
so if you see anything displaying C:\Program Files\Broderbund this
most likely is the problem program.
This will stop the file trying to start once you start windows. You
will see some default windows programs like systray, load power
profiles and more which must remain ticked.
If you are unsure please reply with all the programs in that startup
list and I will let you know which one you can untick. Also could you
please let me know if possible what version of Broderbund CreataCard
you installed?
If you require more information, please clarify the question and I
will be happy to respond asap.

I did not find anything in the Startup folder
There are lots of ticks in the System Configure Window and I am not
familiar with many of them:
MS Update Detection
System Tray-------this I know must stay ticked
PP5300usb
Load QM
Determine
ATTRedUpdate
NAV Agent------this is Norton antivirus
Scan Registry
Load Power Profile
AtiD32
AtiKey
EasyKey
SBWatchDog.exe
Sound Fusion
StillImageMonitor
SchedulingMonitor
ScriptBlocking
Load PowerProfile--------This must stay
CSINJECT.exe
Event Reminder---------this is a calendar we use
I had CreataCard Gold 4 but deleted it some time ago. Also, when I
"find" the PCDLIB32.DLL I get C:\Program Files\Proventure\Business
Cards\pr... in addition to the Windows\System. This is a program we
use to make business cards----

superroy-ga,
Thankyou for your reply.
Lets see what all these programs are firstly:
MS Update Detection <- Microsoft Works updater
System Tray <- System file
PP5300usb <- Paperport software
Load QM <- Query manager for explorer
Determine <- No idea what this is. (Where abouts is this file located?
Have you updated your AntiVirus definitions and performed a full
scan?)
ATTRedUpdate <- ISP AT&T Updater
NAV Agent <- Norton AV
Scan Registry <- Windows registry check
Load Power Profile <- Windows file
AtiD32 <- ATI Radeon
AtiKey <- System Tray access
EasyKey <- One touch keyboard
SBWatchDog.exe <- Sound blaster
Sound Fusion <- Sound card control
StillImageMonitor <- Scanner/camera related
SchedulingMonitor <- Some kind of scheduler.
ScriptBlocking <- Norton script blocker
Load PowerProfile <- Windows file
CSINJECT.exe <- Cleansweep program
Event Reminder <- Calender as you said
Nothing in regards to CreataCard or Proventure cards there.
1. What happens when you locate this PCDLIB32.DLL file in
c:\windows\system when it asks for the file?
2. For a test, try untick ALL of those programs in the startup list
except for
Load QM, Load PowerProfile, StillImageMonitor, Scan Registry and
System Tray.
Does this error still occur?
3. Can you possibly try install Broderbund CreataCard again and see if
this fixes it? - Uninstall it cleanly and see if that helps.
Please clarify if you require further assistance. Thankyou.
Best wishes,

Thanks for all your efforts to help me---I tried the #1 suggeation and
when I located the "Windows\System" and clicked on it an "Open With"
screen appeared with "Check the program you want to use to open
PCDLIB32.DLL, etc" ---and a long list of programs I never ever heard
of and have no idea at all which one to use. So I just deleted the
screen and continued.
#2--I unticked all the programs in "Startup" except the ones you
mentioned---did not remove the problem.
#3--I installed Broderbund CrearaCard and that did help--so I
uninstalled it with Norton Clean Sweep & Add/Remove and that did not
help---the same "Open With" opens up and I am in the same
predition--except now I get a message "Windows is looking for the "Q\
file"---I just click that off too !!
There was a "Missing Shortcut" window "Windows is searching for
AGeminu.exe" but that disppeared after the first restart and was
replaced with the "Q\" remark
Thank heavens I can still use the computer.
Best wishes to you-

Hi superroy-ga,
Sorry for the delay. It seems these two files are hidden somewhere
inside your windows registry.
Try click Start -> Run -> REGEDIT.exe
Click on Registry -> Export. Call the file backup, save it to your
desktop. Make sure you click the ALL button below. Click SAVE.
Click on Edit -> Find. Try searching for PCDLIB32.DLL and AGeminu.exe
and delete any reference to this. If you delete something wrong, you
can always double click on the backup file on your desktop to restore
your registry back to normal.
Alternatively, you might be able to run a program that clears all
unwanted registry entries (called a registry cleaner). I will include
a selection of links that you can try shortly.
See if that helps.

Hi mistajon
I ran the search in the EDIT>FIND and PCDLIB32.DLL was found---I
deleted it plus several more Broderbund/CreataCard/American Greetings
files. Could not find AGeminu.exe but for some reason it does not
come up at start anymore. Didn't help with the PCDLIB32.DLL file--it
still wants to know which program I want to use to open it. ----I am
now getting a "can't find the /Q file"
Thanks and you have a good Thanksgiving

Superroy-ga,
Please try either or both of these windows registry cleaners to try
solve your problem:
RegCleaner - http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml
and/or
EasyCleaner - http://www.voodoofiles.com/708
I hope one of these programs cleans up the old registry entry of the
PCDLIB32.DLL

I tried the options to clean up the registry but when I got them up
they were so formidable that I was afraid of really screwing up my
system even more. There were no instructions on how to proceed so I
was baffled and not knowing what to do I just shut them down. So I am
still with the same problem. Appreciate all you have done for me and
if there any more moves I can try let me know. Maybe lead me through
one of the cleaners ????

Hello Superroy-ga,
I have found the following article from the Broderbund support
website:
http://support.broderbund.com/fix.asp?isid=5406&prog=190&printer=1
If you follow the instructions on the website above this should
resolve your "Cannot find the file PCDLIB.DLL".
Also regarding the program with the /Q switch try the following:
Go to Start -> Run. Type msconfig. Click on the Win.ini tab, press "+"
on windows. Have a look for anything regarding the /Q program that
cannot run on startup.
Kind regards,
mistajon-ga
