Mike --

As clear as your question is stated, I can't find a source that
collects data in the right way to give you a precise answer.
1. DOT collects information on direct flights (and passengers) from
NYC to Ireland. It doesn't include people with a layover at
London-Heathrow, for example.
2. Several agencies collect total travel statistics for US-Ireland
travel.
3. Some agencies break travel out by U.S. nationals/Irish nationals.

If any of this satisfies your needs, please let us know.

Hi

Thank you for the speedy response. I need to have the total number of
air passengers who fly either direct from Ireland to New York and/or
vice-versa. Idealy it would be great if it could be broken down into
Business/First and Economy travel. A break down of Irish Nationals
would be good too.

Thanks again.

Mike

Mike --

I thought that I'd be able to answer this question for you -- and
answer it relatively quickly. However, when I jumped into the
International Aviation numbers at the Department of Transportation
website, they didn't make sense. This page purports to list all of
the traffic between airport pairs for 2001 (at the bottom, the T-100
segments):
http://ostpxweb.ost.dot.gov/aviation/international-series/

Relevant airport pairs would be Newark and JFK to either Dublin or
Shannon. However, when you examine the counts, they appear to be
one-month numbers.

A suggestion would be to contact the Office of Aviation and
International Affairs at (202) 366-5903 to get good data.

Best regards,
