I'm trying to get an excel spreadsheet to appear in Powerpoint without
any grid lines or borders. I've tried formatting the spreadsheet
before and after imported (i've cut and pasted it too) and the
formating shows no lines - but it appears in Powerpoint with lines.
Thank you!

Gardnervillian,

Fomatting objects to appear the way we like can be a challenge,
especially when importing from one application to another. Luckily,
there is usually a solution.

In order to place an Excel spreadsheet into a Powerpoint presentation
without gridlines:

1) Highlight all the information that will be in the imported
spreadsheet in Excel
2) Click on FORMAT -> CELLS
3) In the Format Cells Window, click on PATTERNS
4) Using the drop-down titled Pattern. You will see three rows of
patterns at the top of the list. Choose the first block of the first
row at the top of the list. It will appear as plain white block.
5) Hit OK
6) Save your spreadsheet

Now, your grid lines will not appear within the spreadsheet.

In Powerpoint, pick the slide where you want the Excel data to show:

1) Click INSERT -> OBJECT
2) Choose "Create from file"
3) Navigate to wherever you have saved the spreadsheet
4) Choose it the file
5) Hit OK
6) Hit OK again

Your spreasheet, without the gridlines, should now be in your
presentation.

Thank you for your question, good luck with your presentation and if
you need any further clarification, please let me know!

What versions of Excel and Powerpoint are you running?

When you highlighted the cells and chose the pattern, did the
gridlines stop showing on the spreadsheet? Also, after performing the
steps listed, highlight the cells again, choose Format -> Cells again.
This time, click on Borders and then click on None.

After saving the spreadsheet, go to your Powerpoint presentation and
to the slide where the spreadsheet will appear. If it is in there
now, delete it and put it and then follow the steps again to put it
back in again.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks!

In Excel, go to Tools -> Options. Under the "View" tab, there is a
checkbox on your lower left marked "Gridlines". Uncheck this to make
the gridlines disappear.
