After a crash and re installation of windows ME from disk,
the Restore Program always ends up with the message "unable 
to restore your computer to given date"   There is lots of free
space. The "disable system restore" check box is clear.  Corespandance 
sent to:
 support@dell.com

has produced frustration.

Unless ME is radically different from other Windows
operating systems, 'restore' is only useful when
the operating system is intact, since it draws from
folders created under the Windows root directory. 
Once you re-install the system, these folders are
erased, and no longer available.

Jay,

You would perhaps both better understand and gain more satisfaction
from using Google Answers if you reviewed the FAQ at...

As you'll note, the comment from sublime1 is not an "Answer" but
simply a comment, as is this.  I'd suggest that the reason that your
question has not been answered yet is that those Researchers
interested in in *are* putting thought in their research and have yet
to produce what they feel is a satisfactory answer to your question.
