I am looking for detailed business plan examples for a start-up Toy
Company. I am a serial technology entrepreneur (currently involved in
4th tech venture) and I have developed what I believe to be an
innovative and exciting "Toy". Being a techie ... this toy obviously
leverages what I consider to be some interesting technology. One of
the major decisions that I am currently faced with is whether to
pursue a licensing model (sell rights to the intellectual property to
existing toy manufacturers) or a self-production model (build and
distribute the toy under the brand of the new company). I believe
that there is a viable model that leverages both of these strategies
and would be particularly interested in seeing plans for companies
that pursued both models.

To be a little more precise I am looking for a plan that takes an
innovative "Toy" product concept through the start-up stages,
prototyping, Intellectual Property protection process, licensing vs.
self-production decisions, manufacturing/licensing process,
distribution/product marketing strategy, product launch and subsequent
product lifecycle stages (3 - 5 years).

I am looking for actual business plans of real companies, preferably
ones that have been successfully executed using either the licensing
model, self-production model or more preferably both. I will consider
fictitious sample plans if they provide some educational or strategic
value, are of extremely high quality or describe an innovative or
unique approach. I am not interested in sample plans that go through
the motions of describing the various sections of a biz plan using the
toy industry as context (how-to sample plans). I understand how to
write a biz plan, I am interested in the approach and strategies that
have been implemented within the toy industry in the past, what works,
what didn’t.... looking for a way to educate myself on the toy
industry at the same time.

If possible a synopsis of original planned strategy vs. actual
implementation and the decision processes surrounding the execution of
the ventures' objectives during the early years would be really
helpful.

Any advice, direction and insight on launching and funding a toy
venture would be great as well. I am comfortable launching new
ventures in the tech sector ... and stepping a little bit out of my
element. Really excited about this though.

Willing to tip big for real industry insight!!!!! This is my first
Google Answer submission so I am going to price the request at $125,
however I will tip an additional $100+ for real plans, plans from
successful ventures and real industry insight.

Here is a brief business plan of a "toy company" that sells kites.
http://www.businesstown.com/planning/creating-rainbow.asp

For an extensive list of business plans to compare different models,
you can refer to http://www.bplans.com/sp/index.cfm?a=bc
The closest one to a retail toy store is a retail tennis store:
http://www.bplans.com/c/sp/d/?s=1063

If you are considering purchasing the software Business Plan Pro 2003
because it may have a business plan for a toy company, there is no
need; I have checked and there isn't one included.

I have found one business plan for a toy company which is written by a
reputable well-writing group, however they charge $99.

If you are planning on making this a web business, I would strongly
recommend joining http://www.secretstotheirsuccess.com/ as it is full
of other start-up web entrepreneurs with real insight and real
experience.

I can provide real industry insight but not directly related to the
toy industry.
If you find the business plans helpful and you would like the link to
purchase the toy company business plan (which you can purchase with
the $100 tip you intended to pay), please let me know.
If I am off track and you require some different kind of information,
also please let me know.
Thank you,

A well written actual business plan which you are looking for can be
purchased for 99 dollars here:
https://www.turnyourpassionintoprofit.com/cgi-bin/cart.pl?IO=bizplan054&OR=1&bizplan054Q=1
I have purchased several business plans from this group before and
they are very accurate, unique and insightful.

http://www.bplans.com/sp/index.cfm?a=bc has fictious business plans
which I don't think you need.

business plan but I don't find it very helpful.
