Hi Judemona,

Mitchell McDeere, the character from John Grisham's _The firm_, was
the first in his firm's long history to fail the bar. As he's not
real, I thought I'd find some others for you. Here's what I found:

--------------------------------------------------

You don't get much more well known than John F. Kennedy, Jr. According
to CNN, it took him three tries to pass the bar.

--------------------------------------------------

JFK Jr. tied with Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, who also failed the
test twice.

--------------------------------------------------

Three seems the lucky number: Charlie Crist, presently campaigning and
running for Attorney General of Florida, had to take the bar 3 times
before he passed.

--------------------------------------------------

If three times seems like a lot, you'll love Democrat Kevin A.
Callahan (aka Kevin D. Callahan), who nearly won the the 1998 election
for Massachusetts Cape and Island District Attorney (46K to 55K
votes). He failed the bar 10 times before passing on his 11th try.
Apparantly, Mr. Callahan prides himself on not being a 'quitter'. He's
even running for the same DA's office this year.

--------------------------------------------------

And though he's not well known in the public en masse, 1999 Army
Soldier of the Year Nick Scott has certainly been honored in his own
realm and is without doubt a role model. He didn't pass the bar on his
first try, and shifted focus toward what has become a decorated
enlisted career. He only recently retook the test (and passed).

Partial Google Search Strategy:

"did not pass the bar exam"
famous people did not "pass the bar"
Mitchell McDeere "The Firm" Grisham "bar exam" pass
"Charlie Crist"
"didn't pass the bar exam"
"first try" "bar exam" "failed"
Kevin Callahan "district attorney"
"mayor daley" "bar exam"
"John F. Kennedy" "bar exam"

I hope this info helps. Let me know (via a request for clarification)
if anything isn't clear, if a link doesn't work, etc., and I'll be
happy to respond.
