Is there a way to search for boldface type in Adobe Acrobat? If so,
how do I do it? I have both Word and WordPerfect and if it's possible
to convert the PDF document to either and retain page numbers I could
do the search that way, but when I've tried converting, it doesn't
retain page numbers.

Post the PDF on line , (in a Google groups message for example) then
do a search for content that is known to be in the document. When it
shows up as a hit select, "view as html" from this point you should
see your pdf (with page numbers) and you can cut and paste to
microsoft word. good luck
