We're considering moving our family to France for 2-3 years (or more, if we love it!) We have two young daughters, ages 3 and 5. Can someone give us a detailed overview of various primary schools in the 7th, 16th or West of Paris. We'd also be open to knowing if there is an exeptional school in another location. Some details to help answer the question follow: Our older daughter is in a respected, creative, child-focused private school in the US; we hope to find something similar in or very near Paris. Neither daughter speaks French, but we want them to learn the language and culture; we're most interested in bilingual schools with a heavy (but not exclusive) emphasis on French. We'll most likely live in the 7th, the 16th, or to the West of Paris (our dream is to find a house with some "green space" in Paris, but this may not be possible.) The schools we've heard about are the Lennen School, the EAB, the International School in St. Germain en Laye, and of course the American School (but is it not French enough?) But we don't know much more about them than what is on their Web sites. Finally, we're looking for details about each school, its culture, its philosophy, the staff, its location -- and from personal experience, not simply from what's listed on Web sites. Thanks! |

Hi, I did quite a bit of research into this, but most of the webpages are in French. I'm sure one of our researchers will get the information. Cheers, Aditya |

Sorry, I have not been able to find anywhere you can turn to learn about personal experiences. However, if you go to http://www.expatica.com/france.asp, select "family and education" and scroll down until you find a link to "Putting your child into education", you will find at the bottom of this article a list of information centres where you might be able to find more information. |

Hi, Paris is a lovely city I've been there quite a few times, the 7th and the 16th are definately the "better" areas of Paris, but unfortunately I can't share any personal experience about the schools with you, although I can translate the webpages without any problems and do some research about their respective levels. If you are interested, please let me know. Cheers, Endo |
