I know someone that I think is collecting LONG TERM disabilty from NJ
Port Authority. He is around 45 years old and doesn't work at all and
has a wife and two teenage
kids of which his wife only works. I always see him at home and he is
definitly not disabled or
sick. How kind I find out what is his source of income and if his
collecting from any type of insurance claim or disabilty insurance. He
is always causing problems in the neighborhood because is always at
home. TROUBLEMAKER!!!!
Please do not refer me to:
The attorney general of my state
/www.insurancefraud.org
The Baking and Insurance commision.
I need facts first and then I will present them to the authorities.

Thanks for the help.

The obvious answers are the ones which you've already cited that you
don't want to hear. If somebody's on disability, and you suspect
insurance fraud, you need to go directly to the government office
which handles this thing. I'm afraid I don't understand why you don't
want to go through the proper channels for this, since that's probably
the best way to handle it.

The only other recommendations I can make would be to either hire a
private investigator at your own expense, or try getting a local
television station to take up the story for you.

I hope you won't take it the wrong way if I speak my mind and say that
the tone of your post indicates that you're not so much interested in
the fact that he's potentially doing something illegal, but that
instead you seem to have a personal vendetta against this guy for
something he's done to you. Basically, it sounds like you're just
looking for an excuse to get him in trouble.

Finally, even though you "always see him at home" and in your opinion
"he is definitely not disabled or sick," you simply may not be aware
of what his specific problem is. In fact, it sounds like you two don't
get along, so I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he simply didn't
tell you what his illness was.

I personally know somebody who has been disabled for the last 5 years,
yet to all outward appearances the guy is perfectly fine and healthy.
Guess what? The disability insurance he purchased many years ago
covered him IF HE WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM A VERY SPECIFIC TYPE OF
SKILLED JOB. As a result of his non-obvious injury, he can no longer
work in his old profession. So, even though he could certainly do most
types of work, he's legally collecting disability insurance because he
can no longer do the work that he was trained for.

Summary: If you really feel that he's violating the law and stealing
from those who rightfully collect insurance, go to a state agency that
handles these types of issues. Otherwise, consider leaving him alone.

In this matter I would like you to consider that this man may have a
mental illness. Mental disabilities are just like physical
disabilities except they aren't able to be seen by the naked eye.
You've already described this man as a "troublemaker". It could very
well be that this "troublemaker" is someone suffering from bi-polar
disorder or manic depression. Most people with a mental illness look
like you and I and most lead fairly normal lives. They often DO NOT
look like someone wandering a psych ward in a gown, banging their head
against the wall. If they have been confirmed to suffer from a mental
illness then they are rightfully collecting disability. Someone with a
mental illness is just as unable to work as someone with a broken
back/physical illness.
You might consider that it's not any of your business how he is
disabled or who he is collecting disability from. Whoever has given
him these disability payments (SSI/SSDI or Port Authority) has
thoroughly tested him to gain their own opinion in his disability
case. He did not just walk into their office, say he could never work
again and start receiving checks. It doesn't work like that. He's had
to be tested over and over and deemed unable to work by a system of
checks and balances. If you have other information about this man and
his disability claim, that you feel is damning against him, I think
the link you posted is sufficient (www.insurancefraud.org). If you
know of a crime that he has committed then I suggest you contact the
police. Otherwise, I suggest you leave this man and his family alone.

What about the New Jersey Department of Labor: Bureau of Workers'
Compensation? If he's collecting disability insurance while on the
job, it might be workers' comp. The link is
