retailers on the Internet, what makes them the largest and what the
general background of the sites are.

When you say largest, do you mean in revenue, number of units sold,
site visits, etc?  Which statistic are you looking for? As for
background, do you mean year started and by whome?

To clarify:

By largest I mean total sales, (not just traffic).
The background info I need is how big they are in sales, size,
emplyees.  Or any other info that is available.  Basically what I need
is the largest 3 and why each one is large.
