Sigh. More Microsoft irritation: I have Outlook 2000 SR-1 9.0.0.3821,
running on XP. I tried to switch to Rich Text, in order to have a
multi-font, professional-looking signature block (I'm an editor and
work with a lot of texts). That caused problems, so I switched back to
regular (non-"RICH") text. Now I have a new problem, which I never had
before: When I type a reply to a message which has come IN
(apparently) in rich text mode, almost every time, this crashes
Outlook. What's going on?

Would it be possible for you to post any error messages, or describe
the crash somehow?

In reply to seizer-ga's query: I can't recall a specific error message
(in the old sense of Error #37, etc.), but I'll watch to see what I
get, next time. (I know the message comes in a very authoritative blue
box onscreen. And I can't save anything, at that point.)

One thing to check... If you go into Tools-> Options..., under the
"Mail Format" tab, do you have a checkbox for "Use Microsoft Word to
edit e-mail messages"?
If so, it may not be Outlook crashing, it may be Outlook's attempt to
open word that may be causing the problem. If it's checked, uncheck it
and try Rich Text again. If it isn't checked, then it's just idle
speculation on my part...
Good luck!

To flajason-ga:
A reasonable possibility--but I just went to look, and it was not
checked...Thanks for the thought, though....
