I run an online retail store selling computer games and video games
for the PC, MAC, Playstation, PS2, GBA, XBOX, and GameCube. I am in
need of a UPC database that I can look up my products by name/platform
or something similar and get the UPC for that product.

Hello pyagmin,

Great question! I was able to locate one service that is free, and
works as advertised. You can give it a try here:

UPC Database
http://www.upcdatabase.com/

They offer an extensive listing - even finding a can of Bud Light that
I 'scanned' was rather simple. I also typed in Playstation and it came
up with hundreds of games. I searched for GameCube and that came up as
well. I typed in these terms for a test, and they all came up rather
well:

The Sims
Grand Theft Auto
Microsoft (Tons of data)

To search for an item by name, simply click on the link on the site's
left hand navigation that says 'Search'.

There are not many free services like this - and this is the only one
I found that actually works fairly decent. It allows you to
enter/modify listings, so even if they don't list something of yours
the first time, you could add it for future use. For the price,
(free:-) you simply can not beat it. Keep in mind that since it is
free, you're bound to find items that are not in the system.

Here is another one I found. I am unsure of the reliability of it :

Coupons and Refunds

I hope this concise answer meets your needs. Should you need further
clarification, please ask before rating, as I would love to offer more
assistance.

To find this answer I searched Google for:

upc database
://www.google.com/search?q=upc+database

Thanks for the great question!

I've already seen UPCDatabase.com - is not up to date, and does not
suit my needs. That's why I chose to try google awnsers in hopes
someone else might find a resource that I have not. Try a search for
Unreal Tournament 2003 on either site you listed - nothing.

Hello again pyagmin-

Give me a few moments to see what else I can come up with before
rating the answer. I wasn't aware that you had already seen this
database. Be right back -

Ok - so sorry about that. We should have clarified that in the
beginning. Here is what else is out there:

BarPoint
http://www.barpoint.com/cgi-bin/barpoint/bpntapp/scripts/home.jsp

Try searching using this term instead:

UNREAL TOURNAMENT 2K3 PC

Be right back with some more if I can dig them up. Thanks for giving
me the chance to get you a good answer. That's why I am here :-)

Hello -

The last site does not even list UPC's with search results. Scratch
that one from the list of potentials.

Since your question was very direct, I didn't think to ask for further
clarification. In the future, you may want to list which
sites/products you have already seen - to avoid this mistake again.

I am still working on making this situation right for you. It looks as
if I may not find more resources to match the refined criteria. You
could ask for a refund and leave this answer without a rating since I
answered the original question (with the data given) to the best of my
ability.

I apologize for the confusion - and hopefully you'll give this program
a chance to work for you again in the future.

Thanks for your patience and understanding-

SgtCory

Nice thought - but I already tried Half.com - they ask for the UPC -
they don't give it.

pyagmin,

I am still working on this on the side.

There are sites that do have this function, but it is mainly for their
respective content:

http://www.navarre.com/ProductDetail.asp?ptype=VideoGames&ItemNumber=2093212&ProductType=VideoGames

http://www.grababargain.com/games/listing.cfm?nID=11863&nListingID=11150419

I'll keep my eyes open.
