This article does not appear in the NYT archives, which means,
probably, that it was written by a freelancer.

Researchers terms of service prevent them from providing copyrighted
materials.  The FedEx article is available from www.nytimes.com or may
be available via a nearby libary, if they have Proquest, an on-line
database.

I've already checked and the FedEx Oct. 13 article is on Proquest.
