TexasPoints,

It appears that a lot of archeological sites are sponsored by state
agencies such as the Department of Transportation, Parks and Wildlife,
etc.. This is a list of major sites I could find sorted by State or
Federal funding.

State funding

1991-1994 Freedman's Cemetery Archaeological Project, sponsored by
Texas Department of Transporation

1997 Camp Ford, Civil War Prisoner of War Camp Project, partially
sponsored by state funds (Texas Department of Transportation) in
addition to the Smith County Historical Society

1998 Gualt Project, UTexas at Austin: Texas Archaeological Research
Laboratory Projects

Relies, at least in part, on private contributions, but I would expect
because it is located within a State institution, that it is also
partially funded by the State of Texas

2001-2002 Caddoan Mounds, Cherokee County, Partially funded by Texas
Parks and Wildlife (State funding)

2001,L7 Ranch, in the Texas Panhandle near the community of Crosbyton

Federal Funding

1999 Amistad National Recreation Area
National Park Service Archeologists are federally funded

2002 Deepwater Shipwreck in Gulf of Mexico, Texas A&M, contracted by
the US department of interior

2000 Twin Buttes Reservoir Project, funded by Bureau of Reclamation,
Department of the Interior
