How does one choose a moving company?  My wife and I are moving from
Los Angeles to Portland Oregon and I've heard many horror stories
about people being ripped off by unscrupulous movers.

I usually figure it is less costly to bungle a job myself than to have
a professional bungle it for me. I've never felt ripped off by U-haul.
