According to the book The Martial Arts-An Annotated Bibliography by
Randy F. Nelson with Katherine C. Whitaker, Steve Armstrong wrote a
book titled An Introduction To Karate, which was self published in
1971 in Washington state. I have been checking the usual sources
(bookfinder.com, ebay, half, amazon, etc), but have never even seen a
copy listed anywhere. Where can I obtain a copy of this book?

Do you want to purchase it, or will you be satisfied if we locate it
in a library near you? If you're happy to find it in a library, where
do you live?

I would prefer to purchase it, but if that is not possible, finding a
library copy would okay. I live in Rochester, NY, but will be visiting
the Seattle/Tacoma area in a month and a half, and since it was
published in that area (Steve Armstrong's dojo was in Tacoma), it may
be able to be found out there.

I can't find any evidence of its existence, hingethunder, although it
certainly may have without much documentation, especially if
self-published.

I did find Mr. Armstrong's contact mail address, valid as of 2001.
Unfortunately, Mr. Armstrong has been in a veterans' hospital for
several years, after suffering a series of strokes, but welcomes mail.
If you'd like that contact information, I can provide it.

regards,

rico

I have found "Seisan kata of Isshinryu karate" by Steve Armstrong
published in 1973. Could that be it?

That is not it. I already have these books of his:
Isshinryu Karate : The One Heart Method
Seisan Kata of Isshinryu Karate
Seiuchin Kata Of Isshinryu Karate
Naihanchi Kata Of Isshinryu Karate
Wansu Kata Of Isshinryu Karate

An Introduction To Karate (according to the bibliography book I
mentioned in my original question) was self-published in 1971. The
rest of his books were published commercially about 1973. It is the
one book of his that I don't have.
