I'll add this as a comment, as it's not verifiable, but being a child
of the `60s, I can note that retail price on popular single rock LP
records tended to range between $12.99-$18.99, with double LPs in the
$24.99 range in the southern CA. area. Discounted prices tended to
range between $9.99-$14.99 on single LPs.

WOW! I didn't realize prices for LPs were so high in Southern
California during the 1960s. The retail price on LPs here in the
Midwest were no more than $3.98-$4.98 for mono and $5.98-$6.98 for
stereo. However, most of the time stores would discount anywhere from
$1 to $2 off these prices. Starting about 1972, several record
companies starting to put price codes on the spines on their Lps.
