The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) lists a number of
grief counselors in your area. I found three for Jefferson City and
ten for Kansas City. Their contact information can be displayed online
if you fill out the online form below. You don't need to give your
name or an email address.
NBCC Counselor Find

If you use the counselor find link above, please be sure that you
check the box labeled 'Depression/Grief/Chronically or Terminally
Ill. It's easy to find ... it's straight across from the no
preference box. Then lower on the form enter Kansas City or
Jefferson City or an area code if you prefer. Then click the
lavender "search" button and the therapist information will be
displayed for you.
NBCC also has a page of links recommended for the general public.
These links may be helpful if you'd like to learn more about
counselors or counseling in general.

There are still other ways to get a referral to a qualified grief
counselor if none of the above options work for you. You can fill out
an online request for information with the National Mental Health
Association.
National Mental Health Association Help Desk
(Complete the online form and they will help you with a referral)

PS- If you are seeking services covered by insurance, it's a good
idea to contact the insurance company. Most insurance cards will have
a phone number for mental health services listed right on the card.
Often it's buried in small print on the back side of the card. If you
can't find a specific mental health number, then it's probably best to
call customer service. It's important to talk to the insurance company
because they may insist that the person seeking counseling go to a
preferred provider in order to receive their maximum insurance
benefit. |
