Acaena novae-zelandiae Or also commonly known as BIDGEE-WIDGEE, http://www.dur.ac.uk/botanic.garden/dubg/acanz.html and http://web.apolloparkps.vic.edu.au/Content/grade_area/pegasus_2002_website/Science_Pegasus/Plant_Database/Acaena_novae_zealandiae.html seems to be a native to your part of the world bit it doesnt seem to be considered a weed, in fact this PDF document talks about using Acaena novae-zelandiae as a replacement for weeds. http://www.gavic.org.au/pdfs/coastbklt.pdf As always, establishment of desirable plants to replace the space previously occupied by weeds has been a vital component to Breamleas success. The indigenous species planted by the group as part of their treatment program include Bidgee Widgee (Acaena novae-zelandiae), indigenous Pi g f a c e (Carpobrotus rossii) and various tussock grasses. So given that information I doubt you will find a weed killer specifically targeting that plant. Here is an organic weed killer developed and sold in Auckland http://www.certifiedorganics.co.nz/interceptor.htm and another site that may be of help http://www.waitakereranges.org.nz/ |

Hi Bonnie I spent some time researching your earlier question but unfortunately found no useful information on the net. In fact, I found this comment: "There has been very little information published on the use of herbicides for controlling this plant, likely due to a lack of economic importance. " http://pi.cdfa.ca.gov/weedinfo/ACAENA2.htm#anchor616227 Sorry we haven't been able to help find what you wanted. |

Yes how embarrassing for me not to do more research on other common names http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/phpps/docs/4500regulationtext.PDF this document specifies biddy - biddy as a noxious weed as well as here http://www.oda.state.or.us/plant/weed_control/Weedlistsci.html but there still does not seem to be any information on a specific weed killer for this plant. |
