I am looking for a script from the current "The Outer Limits" television program. In 1998, Astronaut John Glenn returned to space in the space shuttle. At the same time or shortly thereafter "The Outer Limits" put out an episode entitled "Joyride," which dealt with a shuttle ride. Their website (theouterlimits.com) paid tribute to Glenn and posted the entire script on-line. I downloaded it onto the laptop I had at the time. It has since gotten lost. I would like to know where to download another copy of that script. Surely it has been spread around the internet. Perhaps it's on ftp sites or posted in newsgroup archives. It was originally posted in HTML. In fact, it doesn't even have to be that particular episode, as long as you can locate a complete script from the current show (not the one from the 50's or 60's). I need an example of a complete script with all the formatting intact. I realize I can look for a script company in Hollywood and try to buy one, but I would prefer having one they've already released for free. Thanks for your efforts. |

You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to The Internet Archive Wayback Machine! ----------------------------------------- As you have discovered, the script for "Joyride" has been removed from theouterlimits.com. Fortunately, a cache of the page with the full script still exists, preserved intact within the marvelous Internet Archive Wayback Machine. You can access the archived script here: http://web.archive.org/web/20010112081100/www.theouterlimits.com/event/joyride/script.html Here's a bit of background information from theouterlimits.com, as it existed in late 1998: http://web.archive.org/web/20000708223750/www.theouterlimits.com/event/joyride/index.html My search strategy in locating this began with a visit to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. When I searched for http://theouterlimits.com I was taken to this list of archived pages: http://web.archive.org/web/*/theouterlimits.com The archived page from December 02, 1998 proved to be the index page linked above, which led me to the script page, also archived. It might aptly be said that the Wayback Machine is a time-travel device worthy of being enshrined in The Outer Limits! I suggest that you save a copy of the script for future reference, since there is no guarantee that the cached page will continue to be available. You can "cut and paste" the text, or (if you are using Internet Explorer) you can save the entire page as html (including the dreadful brown text on black background) by selecting "File/Save As." If anything I've said is unclear, or if any of the links do not function, please request clarification before rating my answer, and I'll gladly provide further assistance. Best regards, pinkfreud |

All I could find was one website that mentioned that the script for joyride was available from theouterlimits.com and would be a good way to see what a real script looks like.... except, they have no link to the script, i can't find it on theouterlimits.com, and they don't have it for download. And that was the *best* source I could find. |

Even better is to save it in a black on white format Just go to tools, internet options, Accessibility, Formatting, Check off "Ignore colors specified on web pages. If its blue on gray go to Tools, Internet options, colors to change to black and white also its better to save it as "Web Archive single file *.mht" format as it users less space but keeps the formatting intact. |
