We are looking for an inexpensive service on the Internet that would
advise us about companies that are restructuring or reducing their
real estate. This could take the form of company press releases or
articles in newspapers, magazines or on-line publications about real
estate restructuring. We would focus on key words such as "real
estate", "restructuring", "consolidation", etc. The service would notify us by
email when such an article appeared in a newspaper or publication,
pefereably on the same day this reference first appears. We prefer
services that are not limited to one publication. Can you help? Thank
you.

I am looking for a less expensive service that is more broad based,
that would be based on key words that appear in newspapers or
magazines.

What would you like your costs to be? Are there any other keywords
that you would like? I have found several clipping services that I
think will meet your requirements, however, the news may be 24 hours
old.

I am ok with news that is 24 hrs old. Ideally, I would like a service
that could automatically update me as to an article that could meet my
criteria. I would then log in to the appropriate URL, see the
headline, and decide whether to purchase the article at a cost of ca.
$1.00 to $2.00. The alternative is simple to use the services of a WSJ
or FT that maintain archives. However, I do not believe that they
would send me an alert about articles that meet my criteria (If they
would advise me, please let me know). Thanks.

jjdon..

In today's business climate, any additional resources that provide an
edge over the competition are extremely valuable. Utilizing a tool
such as the internet to help gain these competitive advantages is very
smart. However, the internet, and the information therein, is
extremely large. It is a full-time job keeping up with the
information on simply a semi-regular basis, nevermind all the time.
Luckily, there are services out there that can do alot of the work for
you.

Traditional clipping services were started as companies that would
literally cut articles on certain subjects, out of newspapers and
magazines and mail them to their clients. With the advent of the
Internet, the information became much more widely available and
delivery much easier and faster. There are several services which
will meet your needs regarding gathering information you are looking
for. The services I have listed will allow you to choose keywords
that they will search on and alert you to available articles.

CyberAlert
http://www.cyberalert.com
They have a variety of services, however, their AccuClip
(http://www.cyberalert.com/accuclip.html) service is the one I feel
would best suit you. It covers over 6,200 publications. The email
alerts are sent daily and cover the previous day's news. You create
the keywords and search terms you would like to use. There is a flat
monthly fee of $189 and a $1.09 per clip charge. They also have a
flat-rate program that is $385 per month with no per clip charge.

ClipGenius
https://www.clipgenius.com
Three packages, ranging from $50 to $250 per month, depending on how
many searches You determine what time of day you want searches to be
run and the results delivered to you. They have a free trial option
on their webpage.

CustomScoop
http://www.customscoop.com
Provides a flat-rate, no per clip charge, service. They will work
with you to create a customized search query to ensure good results on
your searches. They can break down the sources that are searched for
you by state, region, our country. They do not publish their pricing
on their website, but offer a free trial as well.

Competitive Edge
http://www.clipresearch.com/index.html
Another flat rate, no per clip charge, service. Appears to be a
service that does past searches as opposed to real time, but their
webpage is a bit difficult to decipher. They also offer a free trial.

LuceOnline
http://www.luceonline.com
The granddaddy of electronic clipping services. They offer a wide
variety of services as well, but their CyberClipping
(http://www.luceonline.com/services_cyber_clipping.htm) seems to be
the best fit. They monitor news services, but also Internet
newsgoups. Each morning you receive an email with the headline and a
brief overview of the story

I am confident that one of the above services will meet your needs,
both from an information provided standpoint as well as from a
financial view. Some information you should consider when choosing an
electronic clipping service would be what do they monitor, how do they
conduct their searches (human or electronically), the flexibility of
delivery times (remember time zone changes!), the sources they use,
and contract terms. If you visit
http://www.clipresearch.com/comparison.pdf (Adobe Acrobat Reader is
required) you can get a nice matrix of the information to look for as
you shop. You will notice that this page is from one of the resources
I have pointed out above and is pre-filled with the information about
their services, but it does provide a nice reference for you to use as
you compare services.

Good luck in your quest to gain that edge! Thanks for your question
and if you need any further clarification, please let me know!

Regards,
