I want to go skiing in february next year and my main concern is:
where is the good snow gonna be? I am from the UK so I can only go to
resorts in Europe or maybe Scandinavia.

The reason i am asking is that last year i did a season in the French
alps in courchevel (and the three valleys), and the snow was very
dissapointing as it has been for the last couple of seasons - even
though it is supposed to be such a reliable area.

So what i wanna know is:

1) Which resorts have been consistently reliable for good snow in the
last few seasons? (please dont say courchevel or meribel or Val
Thorens because i know its not true although some people will still
reccommend these)

2) Are there any areas particularly being tipped to have a good
snowfall this season?

thanks.

You could try the 'Historical Snow Reports' and 'Full Snow Reports' at:

I hope this helps.

...I was also disappointed with the snow in the Alps; it was not
"powder". I've never been in Scandinavia, but I know where to find
plenty of snow every winter and this is in the Chic Chocs mountain in
Qc Canada (at least 5 meters /yr). The Canadian dollar is low, maybe
it's worth it to compare. Good luck!

AMuch like American resorts, snow conditions can vary from year to
year. As a general rule, your best best are resorts at higher
elevations -- yeah Meribel fails that test, as does Garmish and a
bunch of Italian places. Secondly, look for large resorts, especially
those that spread over several peaks which means that they will have
slopes facing East, West, North, and South. Depending on weather, it
can make a huge difference. I have skied Cervinia in 3 feet of powder
while on the other side of the mountain Zermatt has only a dusting.
In this regard, Zermatt is a good choice as is Verbier. Most are
large, top out at 13,000 and 11,000, respectively, and have slopes
facing virtually all points of the compass.

In France, I would recommend Chamonix and Val D'Isere.

Overall, the snow in europe is not as light and fluffy as you will
find consistently in Utah and less frequently in I-70/Summit County
Colo.
