When I search my website information on Google, I am still getting outdated web pages. I have submitted my new site to Google over a month ago but it has not changed. How can I effectively update Google so someone searching for me or my website will get the appropriate pages. There has to be more than submitting my site, I have already done that. What else? |

Hi thedoo, Good day and thanks for your question. Google updates its index approximately once every month. The only sites that are updated on a day to day basis are sites whose contents change frequently (e.g. news sites) Re-submitting won't speed up the process. You don't have to worry. Wait until the next index, and your new site will be listed. From the Google Webmaster's FAQ : Q) Do I need to submit updated and/or outdated links and pages to Google? A) Google updates its index frequently, so there's no need to submit updated or outdated links. We should pick up any changes to your site during our next crawl. ://www.google.com/webmasters/faq.html#outdated Alternatively, if you've submitted a new domain name, it could take upto months for it to get listed. The more popular site yours is (i.e. no of incoming links) the lesser it will take to get listed. Q) How long does the Google robot take to index a URL once it's been submitted? A) Depending on the timing of the submission and of our crawl, the entire process can take between six and eight weeks. ://www.google.com/webmasters/faq.html#delay If you have any clarifications, then please don't hesitate to ask. Warm regards, Aditya2K |

First of all, it's nothing personal. Google visits some sites daily, or even several times a day. Some sites can go for months without seeing Google update information about their content. Google prioritizes it's search results primarily by looking at how many pages link to your website. If several thousand websites were to link directly to your website, Google would probably give at least a few visits a month. That's the way it works for all of us. Re-submitting a URL won't really help.... After all, if you have to submit a URL in the first place, that means nobody is linking to your site, and you aren't even on Google's relevancy radar screen nor the daily update list. On the bright side, an election day in the US just passed, and while I could be wrong, I think my logs indicate that google's bots love days that surround an election. |
