Why are these messages on the bottom of my new And1 brand basketball
sneakers and what do they mean?

This is found on the bottom of the right shoe:
"You have the right to switch, you have the right to call for help,
lots of help."

This is found on the bottom of the left shoe:
"Should you give up these rights you will be busted, regularly and
repeatedly."

Hello again Andrew--

It seems I wasn't too far off on my guess about your shoes.
Here is a copy of the email from And1:

"The answer is that the writing on the bottom of the Standing O
Lows by AND 1 is "trash talk". Theoretically, your opponent will be
reading that aggressive, sarcastic message when you jump over him to
stuff the ball into the basket. If you have no ups, you probably
wouldn't be wearing these shoes anyway!"

These sound like cool shoes. Enjoy your roundball.

Hi-

I'm working on your question.

Standing O means standing ovation and is simply the name of the low
topped sneaker -- Thus, "Standing O Low"

The other sayings are probably examples of the "trash talk" that And1
is noted for putting on their merchandise. They started out with
tee-shirts.

But I'll try to contact the company directly to find out what they say
it all means.
