Dear ravenmist-ga;
Unfortunately, the way your client said it, and the way you heard it
were close, but not quite the same, but were going to clear up all
that confusion for both of you.
A Mandala (not a Mandela), is a geometric design used in Tibetan
Buddhism. Their uses and designs are complex and varied depending upon
which Mandala is used, for example, some Mandalas may represent
protection, meditation, health, etc.
You may have seen documentary programs on television showing these
designs being meticulously crafted by monks placing colored sand,
almost one grain at a time, in a large sphere. The result of this
activity, which sometimes last for days or even weeks before it is
complete, is a huge, beautifully ornate design, intended to be used in
a particular act of worship before simply being swept away.
The links I am providing for you have more examples of Mandalas than
you probably care to look at. Additionally, your local library will
most likely have books on making these designs and your local home
improvement or art supply store may even have some books with patterns
that can be used for your project. Now that you know what the design
is actually called, you can even seek more references on the design
should you need to do so. Almost immediately, you will notice that you
have a difficult job ahead of you if you agree to recreate these
designs for your client, but if done correctly, it will be a truly
magnificent work of art that you, and your client, will definitely be
proud of.
I hope you find this research helpful. I look forward to working with
you again in the near future.
Best regards;
Tutuzdad-ga
