Question ID: 120590
I need all the information I can get regarding Human Resource
Consulting. I know there are various subsegments within the industry
(such as asset/risk management, healthcare, investment,
strategy/structure, etc.), however, I am having a hard time finding
this information online without it being a professional firm/company's
website.

So far, all the research that I have done is not very informative.
When researching this information, I do not wish to be provided with
links to ANY human resource consulting firm website or any other human
resource company (that's what I've been coming across). However,
professional associations are acceptable.

This is what I need (I just need links to be provided, I can analyze
the info on my own but feel free to add any additional info):
- Information on the Human Resources Consulting industry in general
- The subsegments within this industry and in-depth information about
each segment such as what each one does and why it is important

I am unable to research this myself because I will be out of town, and
also will be unable to clarify any questions until Sunday at noon. In
case someone wishes to research this information, please try to work
with the description above. I want lots of info!

I promise that if the information is exceptional than I will leave a
great tip!

Another thing -- I need this by Sunday. I will up the price a bit or
compensate with a tip (as I promised before). Thank you so much!

Hello ill-ga,

One of the reasons you had a hard time finding resources for
consulting in the HR industry might have been because of your
impression that segmentation in HR consulting is based on industry
specialization. This is not the first layer of specialization.
Instead, HR tends to be segmented according to functional areas. These
functional areas can go by a variety of labels but the basic
components will always include workforce planning, recruitment,
staffing, employee development and performance management,
organizational development, HRIS, EEO and diversity, compensation,
benefits and rewards, employee relations, labor relations and employee
health and safety. I’ve collected a variety of links to help you
orient yourself to these topics.

I recommend that you leave your explorations of these functional
specialties to the last. Instead, I suggest that you start with the HR
consulting resources and starting points I’ve collected. I think these
will help you get a jump start on the industry. Next, I recommend the
HR portals and publications. These will give you a good exposure to
what are the current hot topics. Looking at the functional segments
will make a lot more sense once you’ve reviewed the overarching
issues. I haven’t included any industry-specific HR consulting sites
because I think you’ll be able to find them on your own after you’ve
completed your basic orientation.

I’ve taken you at your word and simply compiled a list of links
without including too many explanations. I tried to include a wide
variety of resources to give you a taste of what's available and
currently popular.

I’ll be happy to clarify any of this. Happy explorations!!!
