Hello broctune,

"By now the story of Oscar Wilde's life is well known. (...) His dying
words were said to be "It's the wallpaper or me, one of us has to go."
(by Roxanna Davies)
Oscar Wilde: An Ideal Husband

"Oscar Wilde, the poet and playwright, is quoted as saying on
hisdeathbed in November 1900: "It's the wallpaper or me-one ofus has
to go."
T N P 20th Century
http://www.kinsei-do.co.jp/PDF/3729/J3729_2.PDF

This appears to be a mistranslation or variation of Wilde's actual
quote. Another (and more popular variation) is:

"My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or the other
of us has to go," (by Jon Henley)

there are many more results than the first one.

According to the following websites:
http://learning.indiatimes.com/gobble/quiz/oscarwilde.htm
Oscar Wilde "died due to an ear infection and meningitis"

A BBC article I found claims that "Oscar Wilde died as the result of a
severe ear infection and not from syphilis, doctors believe."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1037689.stm

It appears that he was thought to have died of sypholis at the time,
but there are people today who think it was an ear infection that
caused his death:
"According to lore, Oscar Wilde died of syphilis, but medical opinion
one hundred years after his death is more inclined to attribute his
end to an ear infection." (by Josie Glausiusz)
