Hi tangy-ga,

In order to better assist you, can you help us out by giving us the
first/full name of the individual? Also, do you know approximately
when he died? A date, year, or even a range of years will help us
narrow this down for you. Thanks.

Regards,
luciaphile-ga

I don't know his first name, but he probably died within the last two
or three years. I believe it was a suicide, but I'm not sure.

Hi tangy-ga,

I've found an article about a man named Cantrell who committed suicide
after killing his girlfriend. That would have been in 2001. It's not
an obit, per se, but a news article.

If that sounds likely, let me know and I'll post it as an answer.

If not, I'm going to need a bit more information to pin this down.
Cantrell is not an uncommon surname and causes of death are not always
listed in death notices and obituaries. Things that might help: where
the man was from, his approximate age, etc.

Regards,
luciaphile-ga

The individual in the article I've found was 49 at the time of death.
Because this doesn't quite match with what you've given below, I'm not
at all certain that I've found your individual. I'll keep searching
though as I'm sure will other researchers.

Hi tangy-ga,

This is all I have. If it sounds like what you're looking for, let me
know and I'll post it as an answer.

Approximately April 13-14th, 2001, a man named Sanford Floyd Cantrell,
aged 49 strangled his girlfriend Katherine Dalton Phillips. He then
hung himself. Authorities subsequently found the bodies in Ms.
Phillips' Coto de Caza home. The story made news because Ms. Phillips
had placed a 911 call that had been messed up by the operator and
authorities were dispatched to the wrong address.

I can't post the article(s) itself as it's not online for free. If
this is sufficient as an answer, I'll paraphrase the rest of the
articles and provide you with a link to the paper where you have the
option of purchasing the story.

Let me know how you want to proceed.

Regards,
luciaphile-ga

Please explain why you would want the obituary notice of someone you
don't know what their first name is. You will probably need the
assistance of the California Dept. of Health/Vital Statistics to
assist you with this search (reach them by www.vitalchek.com and then
click on the link to California to connect with the official State of
California site). The death certificate is $10, and for an additional
small amount for a search fee, they can probably do a check by
computer by name and/or by county to get the information you want, if
you can possibly give a description that would help get an exact
match, such as his race, estimated age, possible name of spouse,
physical description (height/weight, etc.).

SINCERELY,

I understand your concerns. If possible, please post the article you
found on the man who killed himself after killing his girlfriend. If
I need additional information, I will contract the California Dept. of
Health/Vital Statistics. For your information, the man was probably
in his late 30s or early 40s. He had a wife, I believe her name was
"Candy," and at least one son. They probably lived in Orange County
or possibly on the border of L.A. County (like La Habra). This is
really all I can tell you.

The man could have been 49 at the time of his death. I assumed he was
younger, but I'm not sure.
