I saw this movie when I was a kid. . .probably about 1978 or so.

A family moves to a new house in a weird village. The house has a
history of belonging to a witch I think? There is a door in the house
which was used at one time to murder witches by making them lay flat,
placing the door on top of them, and piling stones on the door until
the witch is crushed.

The new lady of the house is pretty, and I think she has an evil
mother-in-law.

For some reason I think Shirley Jones and Agnes Moorhead may have
played main characters, although when I search through their movies on
IMDB, I don't see it.

Mostly what I remember is that at the end of the movie, the lady is
dressed as a pilgrim-type witch and the villagers are crushing her to
death with the door and stones.

I believe you are remembering "Crowhaven Farm," a very frightening
1970 made-for-TV movie that starred Hope Lange (who did resemble
Shirley Jones.)

"Crowhaven Farm" involves a couple (Hope Lange and Paul Burke) who
move into an old house built on land where witches had been pressed to
death. As I recall, it turns out that Hope Lange is the reincarnation
of a witch who made a pact with the devil and reneged upon it, and she
is hunted down by townsfolk who are reincarnations of the original
witches who were executed. At the end of the movie, Hope is being
pressed to death as the witches pile heavy stones onto the same door
that was used in the 17th century executions.

My Google search strategy was simplified by the fact that I remember
this movie vividly, since it scared the bejabbers out of me many years
ago.

Google Web Search:

"crowhaven farm"

If, by any chance, this is not the movie you're looking for, I will
gladly resume the search if you request clarification before rating my
answer.

Thanks very much for the five-star rating and the tip!

I hope you enjoy re-viewing "Crowhaven Farm." Try not to watch it
while you're all alone in the house! ;-)

I'm sure that's it! I have scoured the internet a dozen times over
the years trying to find this movie. Your description sounds exactly
right.

I just looked on eBay and found a copy which I've bought & will
hopefully get quickly!

Thanks again, Natalie.
