You should know that many of the old Victoreen units sold on the Web
are pure junk; yeah you might be able to buy one for $25 but its for
sure not going to have been properly tested and calibrated lately.
Plan to spend a little more for a calibrated unit that you know is
working right so you don't waste your money and energy on junk.

An excellent place to buy a good used unit is at
http://www.radmeters4u.com/. You can also ship them a unit you buy
elsewhere and they'll test and calibrate it for you. I've gotten five
units from them myself so I can be ready for our "war president's"
next hasty rush to war, which for all we know could easily be World
War III. The same company also makes a miniature radiation detection
unit you can put on your keychain (NukAlert,
http://www.nukalert.com/), this is the best thing you could have with
you if Bush gets trigger-happy the next time he's on a drunk and
decides to start launching nuclear missles at evildoers. I bought two
of these little beauties from them.

You might want to check out some of the other links at
http://nuclearsurvivalist.com, especially
http://nuclearsurvivalist.com/Prepare.cfm. You can get $10 off any
unit you buy from the people above if you ask for a
NuclearSurvivalist.com discount.
