My question should not be hard to answer for someone out of the
business schools field. I hope that one can not give too much detail,
I will try to be as detailed as possible as to what information I am
looking for as I am nearly at the end of my review.

For purposes of a possible study at U.B.I (http://www.ubi.edu) in
Brussel I would like to ask for an assessment of this university. It
has been extremely hard to find any really useful and meaningful
information on the web and in newsgroups on this school. I was able to
get a first-hand feeling for the location and professors some weeks
ago but would like someone else's expertise to complete my review and
come to the decision whether to study there or not. I plan to apply
for the MBA course in Global IT& Telecommunication Management.

Things that I already know and have taken into account are:
   - U.B.I. seems to be a well respected business school overall,
ranking at place 9 in a list that features the top10 business schools
in Europe
   - The tuition fee for the MBA are below average in comparison to
other similar courses

Things I would like to have a better understanding of are:
   - Is the program known to have a focus on real-world problems and
very practical with case studies resembling a major portion of the
program?
   - Are graduates from U.B.I well respected outside the world of the
universities walls?
   - Is the program material up-to-date?
   - What job placements did former graduates of the MBA program
receive?
   - Is there any explanation for why U.B.I does not have a stronger
Internet presence?

Hello goodmen1-ga,

You indicate that you’ve already visited this school and that you’re
trying to make up your mind about applying to their MBA program.

I’ve done some preliminary research on your question and found that
there is very little online beyond what you’ve already identified
about this school. The school is not high profile and does not stand
out from the crowd. It does not show up in the top rankings for the
Financial Times or Business Week
(http://www.careerdynamo.com/mba_ft_rank_2001.html ). Since they do
not choose to publicize their program, accomplishments, or graduates,
you will probably have to request these references from them. Once
they’ve furnished the information, you can compare it to the offerings
of other schools. UBI’s Web page shows where past graduates have found
employment ( http://www.careerdynamo.com/mba_ft_rank_2001.html ) and
they should be able to provide you with contacts with these employers.
Most schools will also help you get in touch with their alumni.

The criteria you should use for evaluating the answers you get from
UBI is crucial for your decision-making. I can’t tell from your
question whether you’ve already completed this research. There is lots
of information online about how to evaluate MBA programs – how program
offerings vary, what you’re getting for your investment of time and
money, and how to predict the value of the return on that investment.
I can furnish you with comprehensive information about these factors
and criteria if you would like help with these issues. Please let me
know if such information would meet the requirements for your
question.

I guess I will have to trust in my gut feeling. UBI is listed here and
there but I agree that they do not stand out of the crowd of schools.
Please do not provide me with further information, I believe the
question was not a good one to ask in this forum. Thank you very much
for your initial help, it is much appreciated.
