Question ID: 164162
Could someone please help me with a list of the top 30 songs (with
details of recording artist) that were
popular in Germany during the Hitler years (1933 - 1945)? I am not
looking for Nazi propaganda or patriotic songs, rather songs of love
and longing, popular songs without political relationship.

Dear simon_capet,

For pre-1955 Germany, no objective measures for the popularity of
records exist. There was no counting of how many copies of a record
were sold, a counterpart to the American "Billboard Charts" was not
known. So there are no objective "top 30".
However, I am very familiar with German popular culture of the 20th
century. I will assemble a list of extremely popular and well-known
records from the years 1933-1945. This may take some time; please be
patient.

Best regards,
Scriptor
