I need to change the name of my business - an Internet cafe in my
city. The clientele is a mixture of tourists (around 50%) and
younger(16-25) gamers who mainly play Counter Strike and Starcraft.
The tourists are all computer savvy people who seem to appreciate my
service. The strength of my business are are convenient location (in
city centre) comfortable layout and a very fast broadband link. I want
to appeal especially to the gamers and am hoping for a catchy name. I
need a few (hopefully 10 or more) possible names that I can consider
before I make a final decision. I would be satisfied with a list of
"catchy" modern names.

Hello sixdan,

Thanks for your interesting question. I have come up with a list of
names I feel would appeal to your customers. If they don't fit your
expectations, please request a clarification and I'll take another
crack at it.

The/Red Dragon
Zero One
The/Frag Shack
Frag Hack
Nemesis
Pixel Paradise
Player One
End Game
Electric Dreams
Pandemonium
Quasar
Ground Zero
Bad Juju
Silver Halcyon
Matrix Station
Zero Ping or maybe Xero Ping

I hope this helps.

Thank you watershed. I liked some of the names but was not satisfied
with the overall quality.

I liked the "dragon" but would like to explore some more possiblities
along the lines of mythical creatures.

Zero ping is not suitable because although we have a fast link, we no
NOT have zero ping rates.

End game was OK. Could you throw around any more ideas along these
lines?

Matrix is already a registered name here.

Quasar was good, but again I'd like some more along the astro line.

The others were not suitable.

I know that this is not a normal sort of request because I could just
say that none are suitable but I won't. I need serious consideration
of this issue and will pay if I feel that I've got that. I know that I
specified that around 10 wou;ld be useful, but I'm not happy with the
selection so far.

This request is not urgent. One week is the approximate time frame I
am looking at.

Thanks and hope to speak again soon

I just wanted to say that I was never given a chance to clarify this
answer. I was given a timeframe of one week to come up with a good
clarification, but upon checking this answer today, I find it rated
and closed. Sixdan, you must have mistaken someone elses comments for
my own for I had not yet replied.

I am not satisfied with the original answer and asked for more names
from watershed. He/she replied but did not address all the points I
made. I suggested that I need a few days to consider the names and
comments. I appreciate the comments made but would like a few more
names along the lines of my suggestions

Hi Sixdan,

I had a similar project last year and successfully re-branded a couple
of my businesses using www.elance.com. I was actually successful in
completing the project for less money than you are offering here and
was able to secure the availability of a corresponding internet domain
name. Good luck.

As a gamer in your target age range, I feel a need to respond to
watershed's list. :)

"Zero Ping" is an extremely good name. It's probably impossible to
reference all three of your strengths in a single name, but I think
you must solidly target at least one. The name should also at least
pique interest for your target market. Zero Ping does both.

Pandemonium is also a fun name (particularly for fans of the Final
Fantasy series), but it unfortunately doesn't really say much about
your business.

I would be cautious of the following names, because they sound kind of
"off": Frag Shack, Frag Hack (what?), Pixel Paradise, Matrix Station,
Xero Ping with the X, and possibly Electric Dreams.

Since this business already exists, have you considered a renaming
contest and/or vote on the new name? Involving your customers in the
business is a sure-fire way to make them identify themselves with you
and not only come back, but also bring their friends.

spencercat, thanks for the link. It seems that I'm always in need of
good logo work, and that site looks very promising. :)

Since you said you were interested in mythical creatures, I just
wanted to throw a mostly unfiltered list at you:

Valefor, Ixion, Yojimbo, Anima, Bahamut, Shiva, Titan, Ramuh, Phoenix,
Carbuncle, Fenrir, Sylph, Varfale, Alexander, Leviathan, Odin, Ifrit,
Diabolos, Caitsith, Quetzalcoatl, Gilgamesh, Ragnarok, Pandemonium,
Garuda, Cerberus

This is a list of various recurring characters/terms in the Final
Fantasy series. Not only do a lot of them sound good, but I'll bet
that a not insubstantial portion of your clientele will recognize them
(some of the names more than others) and their connection to gaming.
As far as legal rights, most if not all have their origins in various
real mythologies, so you should be fine there.

How about Bahamut Zero? ;) (It's a particularly powerful "summon" in
the legendary Final Fantasy VII, and Bahamut in general is one of the
more well-known and important names in the above list.)

Hah! This one's hilarious. I originally read it as Computer Science,
not Counter Strike, but whatever. I don't play a lot of CS; Urban
Terror's more my thing. :)

As a pun on the classic game "Mortal Kombat," you could call your
Internet cafe "Portal Kombat."

I too am confused about how this question became "closed". (See
watershed's comments). I was waiting for watershed to come back with
more suggestions as per my original reply to his first answer and then
it was suddenly closed.

Why was it closed? I didn't close it.

I clearly said to watershed that I needed him/her to spend a few days
more thinking about it. This is what I expected when I offered to pay
$60.

So when it became closed I assumed that was it and I had no further
opportunity to post claifications and comments to hone in on the best
name.

I believe that someone should explain why everything happened so fast
and why the question became closed. I am very unhappy.

Sixdan,

Theoretically Researcher Watershed can still clarify his answer with
more business name suggestions, but you already gave a rating (based
on the original answer, not possible future additions Watershed might
have come up with).
Also, everyone can still comment on your question.
